- (5:33) You’re never truly in balance, Jake explains why
- (7:40) It is okay to get out of balance occasionally if you are doing it consciously
- (7:58) You have to know how to reset and get back to balance
- (9:00) Balanced workouts, where you are still active but may not be in the gym for an hour
- (9:44) It is not easy to get yourself to go to the gym, the hardest part of getting yourself their and moving
- (10:20) By the end, you feel good but the hardest part is starting
- (11:35) You can’t do nothing, the older you get, the harder it is to gain muscle and easier to lose muscle
- (12:20) If you’re doing nothing for a week, you’re losing it faster than you will gain it back which is why balance is so important
- (13:10) Jake always ask the locals in Jamaica if they have any sorts of pain and the answer amazes him
- (13:30) He provides an example of why they don’t deal with pain
- (14:18) It is hard work what they are doing, but that’s what our bodies are meant to do
- (14:30) We were built for fight or flight. So when we aren’t moving, we get stiff and old. You don’t get old and stiff, you get stiff then you get old
- (15:15) Your body breaks down faster when you are stiff
- (15:58) They aren’t wearing shoes in Jamaica and they are walking miles with a 30 pound basket on their head
- (16:28) It is no wonder they don’t have neck pain because they are constantly working out their neck
- (16:59) 99% of the locals didn’t have pain, and the ones who did.. Their jobs were where they are sitting
- (17:25) How do you balance a meal plan?
- (18:34) Blood sugar stability is one of the most important things to keep the body at least at a maintenance
- (19:04) You are not going to undo what you have been working at in one week. So it simple, not easy, but simple to get back to undo that and get back on track when you get home
- (20:30) You should bring snacks on vacation that are high in protein. It is one of the best ways to balance our blood sugar while on vacation
- (21:04) When we increase our calorie intake on vacation, however it helps our blood sugar
- (21:30) Blood Sugar regulation is highly more important than calories in, in the short term
- (22:12) Blood Sugar stability is one of the most important things for your metabolic rate. If our blood sugar is low then we are going to be fatigued, have brain fog, not going to sleep as well
- (23:05) When you are on a vacation, don’t focus on the calories, make sure you are getting your protein every 3 hours
- (23:28) Life is about trying to achieve balance
- (23:38) You have the best chance of achieving optimal balance
- (24:29) When you are increasing calories, fats and carbs your body will store more fat which is another reason why blood sugar stability is so important
- (24:50) You are never going to be in perfect balance but the point of the balance is that you can lean one way and get back to it
- (25:20) One of the easiest things you can do to help yourself is drink enough water
- (26:29) When you intake more water you discreet more water, you do not hold on to water
- (26:38) When people come in and their water weight is high it usually means they are dehydrated
